How to clear a blocked drain

Blocked drains can be a real pain! Thankfully, there's a few things you can try at home before calling in one of our professional plumbers.
Firstly, you could try using a chemical solution. You can pick these up from a grocery store or hardware outlet. They're usually pretty cost-effective, but you need to make sure you use gloves and/or a mask because the chemicals are often quite strong. Always follow the directions and try to air out the room by opening some doors/windows.
If you'd prefer a less dangerous mixture, you can always create your own. Boiling water, baking powder and vinegar is a much more eco-friendly solution. Check out the full method here.
If your home is already plumbing-ready, you might not need a liquid solution. A simple plunger or plumbers snake should do the trick! You can always use the tools a few times for good measure.
If you still can't unblock the drain, it's likely that you're looking at a bigger job than you anticipated. There's a certain point you should avoid DIY and have your drains inspected by a professional plumber.
